For the next few hundred kilometres there was non stop wheat fields and silos. Past the small town of Penong the landscape started to change to become more arid again with less trees and more scrub. We stopped for lunch in a small timbered area just past Yulata.
We decided to not stop at the Head of the Bite on the way over as whale watching season doesn't begin until May so it would be better to call in on our way back. The famous Nullarbor Road house has been preserved at the new roadhouse.
I must say my expectation of crossing the Nullabor plains was vastly different to the reality I had always imagined it to be days of driving along roads with sand on either side, remote and dangerous. The actual length of the plain is quite short really and it isn't sand at all but very low scrub. Almost like the heaths in England. Then we found the most incredible spot to camp the night. I have no idea what it is called as there are no signs other than Lookout 1. The view of the cliffs of the Bight are amazing. The last theee weeks of frustration disappeared when we saw this.
We started a trend by setting up camp here as now there are more grey nomads set up. It is very windy and Geoff thought he had better tie the roof so it didn't blow apart.

So much cooler here even needed the quilt tonight. It was very, very windy and we were a little concerned we were going to blow over. The poor van was creaking and groaning. Geoff ended up liking his watch and in the gap and that helped.
