Kalgoorlie 2 and 3

The past 2 days have been spent exploring Kalgoorlie. Yesterday we went to church in the morning. Tried the Anglican this time. Afterwards we explored Boulder which is on the outer side of Kalgoorlie. It is very old and rather run down. Seems to be a lot of disadvantaged people wandering around looking unhappy and rather angry. We had a really nice baked dinner at a pub and then checked out the museum which gave good insight into the history of Kalgoorlie.
Today Geoff did a Superpit tour of the gold workings and the Rail museum while I had a quiet morning in the van. Geoff was amazed that everything is processed on site and the only thing that leaves is the gold ingots. And they have no obligation to fill in the hole.

In the afternoon we checked out Coolgardie which was where they first discovered gold. Beautiful old buildings. A great local museum.
Then we did a tour of the warden Finnerty's house. He was responsible for approving mine leases and settling disputes is last decade of nineteenth century. House was built in 1895 and has been beautifully restored by the National Trust.
Tomorrow we turn for home.
