Perth

We caught a bus and a train into Perth. Very easy from our caravan park and a nice change from driving.  The day I spent very blue and the temperature is perfect.
We walked to the harbour which is very small and caught a ferry across to the other side. Halfway across Geoff spotted a pod of dolphins. A definite highlight of the day. Just beautiful to watch.
We stayed on the ferry and came back across. We then walked up to Kings Park. It was a long walk but we were advised to take a shortcut up the Kokoda Track. The name should have be an omen. It was straight up.
The park was the best we have ever seen. It is obviously well used by Perth people and there were so many gatherings of friends and family on this public holiday.
We went on a free tour of the botanical garden which was excellent and the guide told us so much about the plants and aboriginal uses of the flora. It was set out in western Australian areas eg Malle, Pilbara etc with the plants native to the area.
Boab tree that had been transplanted from up north
The War memorial was impressive and the views over the harbour beautiful.
We stayed until fairly late and then caught the bus back down. We had to walk a fair way back through Perth to get to the station.

Back in Fremantle we had a quick Chinese tea and caught the bus back to the caravan park. Tired!
