The Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is a lighthouse located on the headland of Cape Leeuwenhoek, the most south-westerly point on the mainland of Australia. It was built in 1897 and is still in use.
It is also the point where the Southern Ocean meets the Indian Ocean.
This is the calcified remains of an old water wheel that pumped up water to the lighthouse.
In the afternoon we visited the local museum. It had some interesting collections including local shipwrecks.
Finished off by 4pm today which was good so we could get some jobs done.
Did you stand in the water with one foot in the Southern Ocean and one foot in the Indian Ocean? - you can actually see the water meeting from different directions.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately no. We only saw it from the lighthouse surrounds.
